BOTH IDEAL & REALISTIC

Advertisers tried to show potential customers an idealized version of their familiar world. Details of dress and furnishings had to be realistic; the scenes themselves are idealized.

Everything is spotless, unrumpled, and no one has a hair out of place. The people shown are also clearly prosperous - in fact, probably considerably more wealthy than most of the people who received the cards and bought the product.

Are these children boys or are they girls?
