Margaret Angus Research Fellowship
Fellowship Criteria
• The topic should clearly relate to the history and science of health and health care.
• The manuscript should include information from primary sources such as archival papers and artifacts from the Museum collection, as well as photographs, illustrations, and other visuals.
• Candidates should be prepared to complete their research within the time allotted for the fellowship.
• The expectation at the end of the fellowship is a manuscript and public presentation.
• A review of the Museum website provides an outline of the topics of prior research fellows, and topics of current interest to the Museum.
• Considering that one of the goals of the fellowship is to provide experience for new scholars, senior undergraduates and graduate students will be given preference.
• The Fellow is expected to reside in the Kingston area for the duration of the Fellowship.
• Candidates considering applying for the Research Fellowship may arrange an interview to discuss their proposal.
Selection Criteria
Candidates will be judged based on the following criteria:
1. Evidence that the candidate can produce a good research paper through:
• Previous experience
• Preliminary work done
• Good methodology
2. The project is defined enough to be practical and manageable
3. The project is linked to the Museum collection
4. The topic is of interest to the candidate
5. The project will be of use to the Museum in exhibits, education programs, or other public programming.
