COLLECTIBLE CARDS
As the back of the card explains, this image is one of a series of "album cards" issued by the advertiser. People were encouraged to collect and keep the whole set.
The advertiser sacrificed showing the product and making a strong sales pitch on the front of the card in the hope that potential customers would value the card and save it. Giving away a card considered attractive and desirable might also help build positive feelings about the company and its products.
