Led by our knowledgeable team, these tours provide a deeper look at the stories and artifacts that have shaped health care in Canada. We recommend inquiring ahead of your visit to help us accommodate your group and ensure the best possible experience.

Explore all of the museum’s galleries, exhibits and site with an indoor guided tour, available:

  • Daily from June 1 to August 30

  • Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from August 31 to May 31st

  • Included with museum admission

  • Upon request and based on staff availability

Looking to book a special tour for your group? We’re happy to offer customized guided tours throughout the year by appointment. Whether you're planning a visit for a school class, senior group, club, or professional organization, our team can tailor the experience to suit your interests and needs.

Available year-round by appointment:

  • For groups of up to 25 people

  • Indoor tours are available

Outside Tours: The Pulse of the Past

Step back in time to discover Kingston's rich medical history! This guided outdoor walking tour traces the successes and sacrifices that led to the establishment of one of Canada’s oldest public hospitals and the Queen’s School of Medicine. This tour weaves through the city's historic streets to offer a unique look at the people and places that kept the city's heart beating. 

Available:

  • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 10:30am and 2:00pm until August 24, 2025.

  • Requires pre-booking

  • $10 per person

  • 1 hour in duration and runs rain or shine (tours will be cancelled in the event of a thunderstorm)

Tour Route: The tour begins and ends at the Museum of Health Care, Ann Baillie Building, National Historic Site, 32 George Street and follows a scenic route through nearby sites of significance.

Content Warning: This tour addresses subjects that some may find upsetting including: racism, sexism, discrimination, and descriptions of historic medical practices. Comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
