Discover Canada’s rich medical history through engaging exhibitions, fascinating artifacts, and the powerful stories of patients and health care professionals who shaped the health care we know today. Open year-round and located in the historic Ann Baillie Building—a former 1904 nursing residence and designated National Historic Site—the Museum of Health Care offers an inspiring and educational experience for visitors of all ages.

Admission

Your admission supports the preservation of Canada’s health care history and helps us deliver engaging exhibitions and programs. We accept cash, debit, and credit card payments. 

Museum of Health Care admission fees:

  • Adults: $8

  • Youth: Under 5 (free), 5-16: $5

  • Seniors (60+): $5

  • Students (Full-time with valid ID): Free

  • Museum Members: Free

The Museum of Health Care is located in Kingston, Ontario, in the historic Ann Baillie Building on the grounds of Kingston General Hospital and Queen’s University.

Just steps from City Park and Lake Ontario, the Museum is easily accessible on foot, by bike, or by public transit in the heart of downtown Kingston.

Hours of Operation

June 1 – August 29: Open everyday, 10:00 am–4:00 pm


August 30 – September 30: Open Wednesday to Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

October 1- May 31: Open Tuesday to Friday, 10:00am - 4:00 pm

  • Indoor Guided Tours

    Discover the captivating stories behind Canada’s rich medical history through engaging guided tours led by our trained team members. Our gallery tours offer a deeper understanding of the people and objects that shaped the system we know today.

    Drop-in guided tours are included with museum admission.

    No pre-registration is required.

    Tours are offered based on staff availability — just ask at the front desk when you arrive!

  • Outdoor Guided Tours

    Take a step beyond the Museum walls with Purse of the Past, our popular outdoor walking guided tour. This immersive, storytelling-based experience explores health care history through the local lens of Kingston,  tracing the establishment of one of Canada's oldest public hospitals, and the Queen's School of Medicine.

    Tours are typically 45–60 minutes and offered June through August weather permitting. Pre-booking is required.

Janet & Walter Rosser Children’s Gallery

Designed with our youngest visitors in mind, our Children’s Gallery offers a fun, hands-on space where kids can learn through play. Perfect for family groups, this interactive gallery  features activity stations and arts and crafts activities that introduce children to the world of health care in a creative and accessible way. Great for families, school groups, and young learners!

  • Included with museum admission.

The Museum of Health Care is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive experience for all visitors. Our main entrance is wheelchair accessible, and an elevator provides access to all public galleries.

Please note that while we have washrooms on-site, they are not wheelchair accessible.

  • The parking lot located next to the museum is reserved for the KGH Cancer Clinic. You can find nearby public street parking on King St. or Barrie St.
